Erasmus and Distance Learning Students Join the Scheme
In January 2017 a new cohort of Erasmus exchange students will be joining us at Leicester. They come from all over the world, including Europe, the USA and as far away as Hong Kong. Our peer mentors are ready and waiting for them to arrive and give them the best possible welcome. All of the mentors have now all had further training on the specific challenges that may come with being an exchange student. Around 100 students have signed up so far. If you are about to join us as an Erasmus or Study Abroad student and would like a mentor please email Dr Fiona Ashmore at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are also expanding the scheme to include distance learners. This part of peer mentoring will be online, with all distance learning students having access to a selection of mentors who study a variety of subjects and have different interests. This system should be ready to go live for the next intake of distance learners in June 2017.
Applications for being a mentor are now closed for this academic year but keep your eye out for our next round of recruitment for the 2017-18 year, which we will be starting in January.
