Why do you think the Peer Mentoring Scheme is important?
It is a great programme that contributes to the personal development of mentors and makes the students’ experience of starting university less terrifying. It focuses on a wellbeing of new students and I believe this is one of the most important things during the first year. Person’s perception of the university may depend on how they started their adventure there and Peer Mentoring Scheme is what makes this adventure easier.
What benefit does this scheme have for mentees?
It helps new students to feel welcome, settle in and also gives them more confidence. Thanks to emails and meetings, they can acclimate faster – they know what is going on not only at the University but also in the city.
What made you apply to be a lead mentor?
I remember that I really liked the idea of Peer Mentoring during my first year and I had some ideas what else could have been done. When I saw this job opportunity I thought that it is just perfect for me.
One interesting fact about yourself?
I am from Poland where I have belonged to the Scout Movement since 2009 (and still take part in camps or events as often as I can!)
One thing you enjoy about studying at Leicester?
Diversity. There are so many different people and cultures in Leicester, it is just unbelievable how many various opinions, ideas and approaches you can encounter here. It is a very interesting, fun but also eye-opening experience.
